Arseneau will play for Panthers

After honing his game for the past three seasons in Chilliwack, Chiefs defenceman and New Brunswick native Olivier Arseneau will attend university at the neighbouring University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI) for the next stage of his hockey career.

Arseneau accumulated seven goals and 36 assists for 43 points in 144 BCHL games. He suited up for 54 playoff games with the Chiefs as well, totaling eight helpers.

At UPEI, Arseneau will be the first recruit from the BCHL in recent memory. The Panthers compete in Usports’ Atlantic University Sport (AUS) Division along with Acadia, St. Francis Xavier, the University of New Brunswick, St. Mary’s, University of Moncton and Dalhousie.

The Panthers finished last season at 11-15-4 and featured several former NHL draft picks on their roster including goalie Matt Mahalak and forwards Cody Payne and Brent Andrews. Current NHLer Joel Ward of the San Jose Sharks played USports hockey at UPEI before signing as a pro.
