The NCAA’s Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) announced this week the 2016-17 Scholar-Athlete Award list and 22 BCHL alums, from nine NCAA institutions and representing 15 BCHL clubs, made the grade.
To earn recognition as a WCHA Scholar-Athlete, individuals must have completed at least one year of residency at their current school prior to this year while maintaining a grade-point average of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale in the previous two semesters.
On the men’s side, the WCHA schools are Alabama-Huntsville, Alaska-Anchorage, Alaska, Bemidji State, Bowling Green, Ferris State, Lake Superior State, Michigan Tech, Minnesota State and Northern Michigan.
