BCHL Playoff recap – Thursday, March 22

Kyle Johnson had a goal and two helpers to lift the Prince George Spruce Kings to a 4-1 win over the Surrey Eagles that extends the Mainland Division final to a sixth game.

The Spruce Kings captain opened the scoring in the first period with his fourth goal of the playoffs and PG was up one after one. In the middle frame, he assisted on Dustin Manz’ power-play tally to make it 2-0 and just 40 seconds later, Blake Hayward notched his first of the postseason to make it a three-goal lead going to the third.

Patrick Cozzi added on to the Spruce Kings lead with a goal just 48 seconds into the third period putting the home side in control the rest of the way. Desi Burgart got the Eagles on the board at 11:56 of the third with a power-play marker but they would get no closer.

Evan DeBrouwer made 18 saves for the win while Mario Cavaliere stopped 33 for Surrey.

The Eagles still lead the series 3-2. Game 6 goes Saturday at 7 p.m. in Surrey
