Berard the latest King to ink with Cornell

The Powell River-to-Cornell pipeline is officially a thing now.

Having welcomed former Powell River Kings standouts Tristan Mullin, Kyle Betts, Matt Cairns and Cam Donaldson into the fold for this season, Cornell has gone back to the well and have secured the services of Kings forward Ben Berard for the 2019-20 season.

Berard leads the Kings in scoring with 17-19-36 in 31 games played and he’s already surpassed his offensive totals from all of last season. The native of Duncan, B.C. has moved to the top of the Kings scoring race after posting 17 points in his last seven games, including a four-goal game Nov. 25.

At Cornell, Berard will join a Big Red program that competes in the NCAA’s ECAC Hockey conference along with Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Quinnipiac, Union, RPI, Dartmouth, St. Lawrence, Clarkson and Brown.

In addition to the aforementioned Kings graduates on the Cornell roster are fellow BCHL alums Yanni Kaldis and Matt Galajda.

Past BCHL grads to play at Cornell include Mitch Gillam, Colin Greening, Reece Willcox, Joel Lowry and John Knisley.
