Berger earns BCHLPOW honours

Merritt Centennials goalie Jacob Berger has been named the BCHL Player of the Week for the week ending Oct. 15, the league announced Monday.

Berger turned aside 121 of 129 shots over three games, helping the Cents to points in each game. The Minnetonka, Minn. product made 34 saves and was 3rd Star in an OT road loss to the Prince George Spruce Kings and then stopped 42 shots in another OT setback at the hands of Penticton where he was 1st Star. The 6-foot, 178-pound netminder still had enough in the tank to make 45 saves and take 2nd Star as the Cents took a 3-2 road win over Wenatchee where his team was outshot 47-20.

The 20-year-old posted a .938 save percentage for the week and has played a BCHL-leading 689 minutes to date.
