Berry commits to RIT

Spencer Berry has been a staple of the blueline for the Langley Rivermen the last two seasons and now he’s earned a shot to do the same at the college level.

The 6-foot-2, 185-pound defenceman has secured an NCAA Div. I commitment to RIT for next season. He’s produced a goal and 15 assists in 35 games this season.

Berry will join a Tigers program that competes in the NCAA’s Atlantic Hockey Association along with Air Force, Bentley, AIC, Army West Point, Robert Morris, Sacred Heart, Holy Cross, Canisius, Niagara and Mercyhurst.

RIT has been a strong recruiter of BCHL talent over the last decade. Currently, there are three BCHL players on the Tigers roster in Myles Powell, Adam Brubacher and Christian Short. Past BCHL standouts at RIT are Brad McGowan, Matt Garbowsky, Josh Mitchell and Adam Hartley. Vancouver Canucks defenceman Chris Tanev is also an RIT product.

The RIT campus is located in Rochester, N.Y. and the Tigers are coached by Wayne Wilson. RIT became a Div. I hockey program starting in the 2005-06 season.
