Black committed to St. Norbert

Kurt-BlackLast season, the St. Norbert College Green Knights were the national runner-up at the NCAA Div. III Frozen Four and they’re hoping their latest addition from the BCHL can help them back to the top of the heap.

Surrey Eagles forward Kurt Black has committed to St. Norbert for the coming season.

Black posted 19 goals and 25 assists last season. After beginning the year with 11 points in 17 games with Trail, Black joined the Eagles and recorded 14 goals and 19 assists in a Surrey sweater. For his BCHL career, the native of Winfield, B.C. had 47 goals and 66 assists for 113 points in 165 games.

Last season at St. Norbert, it was former Trail Smoke Eaters standout Erik Cooper that captained the team and they are coached by former BCHLer Tim Coghlin. Other BCHL alums on the team are Chris Rygus and Storm Wahlrab.

The Green Knights compete in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Conference against programs including Marian, St. Scholastica, Finlandia, Concordia-Wisconsin and Adrian.

St. Norbert College is located in De Pere, Wis. The Green Knights men’s hockey team has been the Div. III national champion in 2008, 2011, 2012 and 2014.
