Bulldogs’ Ross commits to Princeton Tigers

The Alberni Valley Bulldogs are pleased to announce that defenseman Kevin Ross has committed to Princeton University for the 2010-2011 season where he will suit up for the Tigers.

A Cranbrook, BC native, Ross is a steady defenseman that provides stability to the Bulldogs blueline.  In 52 games last season Kevin scored once and added 10 assists.

In the classroom, Kevin had an exceptional year, graduating with a 95% average. Kevin was the recipient of five academic scholarships after his outstanding senior year and was accepted into the Faculty of Applied Science at the University of British Columbia. Also of note was the inspirational valedictorian address that Kevin delivered, having been nominated by his graduating class for this honor.

“Kevin is an exceptional young man and it has been a pleasure to work with him this past year. He is an outstanding role model for other young people and players to emulate,” Bulldogs Educational Advisor Tom McEvay said.

The combination of on and off ice excellence has given Kevin the opportunity to pursue his dream of playing for an Ivy League school while studying engineering. This past season the Bulldogs have seen four players commit to Ivy League schools with Ross and Kerr being joined by Marcello Ranallo (University of Connecticut) and former Captain Daniel Moriarty (Harvard).

“I am very excited for Kevin, he has worked extremely hard and this is a great opportunity for him to advance his athletic and academic endeavors to the next level,” head coach Bryant Perrier said. “Kevin has shown tremendous improvement over the course of the last 12 months.”
