Caton commits to Marian University

Trail Smoke Eaters forward Blaine Caton has announced his commitment to Marian University for the 2018-19 season.

Caton is a BCHL veteran playing more than 170 games over four years, split between the Vernon Vipers and the Smoke Eaters. He heads to NCAA’s Division III side Marian U located in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin and is part of is part of the 12 team Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA), There he will join his fellow teammate Troy Ring who also recently announced his commitment to Marian U.

In a statement posted on the Smoke Eaters website, Caton wished to express his thanks for the support he received while playing in Trail. “I’d like to thank the Trail Smoke Eaters for everything they’ve done for me in the past three years and getting me an opportunity to further my hockey career while getting my education. Also, a big thanks to Rich and Annie Murphy, Craig Clare, the whole front office and my coaches over the years Barry Zanier, Kyle Hope, Jesse Leung, Curtis Toneff and especially Cam Keith for never giving up on me and making me the player I am today.”

The Marian Sabers featured one former BCHLer on their 2017-18 roster in Hunter Stewert who played with the Alberni Valley Bulldogs.
