Cavaliere to backstop Brock University next year

Surrey Eagles goaltender Mario Cavaliere has committed to the Brock University Badgers for the 2018-19 season.

Cavaliere was acquired at the BCHL trade deadline from the Ontario Junior Hockey League’s (OJHL) Georgetown Raiders. Dubbed “Super Mario” during his time with the Eagles, he opened his BCHL account with back-to-back shutouts against the Langley Rivermen and the Cowichan Valley Capitals, and had three shutouts in his first four games. He went on to backstop Surrey to a first-round victory over Langley before losing in seven games to the Prince George Spruce Kings in the Mainland Division finals.

The Georgetown Ont. native went 19-8-1 with three shutouts in the OJHL before joining the Eagles in January. Cavaliere will be joining fellow Eagle Matthew Campese, who also recently announced his commitment to Brock for the start of next season.

The Badgers featured several former BCHL players on their 2017-18 roster, including Ayden MacDonald and Skylar Pacheco, who both played in Cowichan Valley, as well as Nate Looysen who played with the Victoria Grizzlies.
