Cobras cut down Vees

Pierre-Anthony Martineau scored the game’s opening goal and then set up two others for the Cobras de Terrebonne to lead them to a 3-1 win over the Penticton Vees as the RBC Cup Thursday.

OFFICIAL BOXSCORE

The game looked as though it might head to the first intermission scoreless but Gabe Bast was sent off for tripping at 17:06 and just under a minute later, Martineau tallied on the man advantage. He then set up Gabriel Paquin making it 2-0 with 40 seconds remaining in the opening frame.

Penticton outshot Terrebonne 14-8 in the second but the only goal of the frame went to Benjamin Bohemier of the Cobras. The Vees had three power plays to work with in the second but couldn’t do anything with them.

Owen Sillinger was able to convert on a man advantage in the third at the 6:48 mark but it would be the only puck to get by Jeremy Belisle on the afternoon as he made 37 saves for the win.

The teams await the result of the Brooks-Cobourg game Thursday evening to see the order of finish in round-robin play. That will determine the matchups in Saturday’s semifinals.
