Doyle Cup Game 4 – Wild @ Saints

It was do-or-die for the Spruce Grove Saints in Game 4 as they stave off elimination beating the Wenatchee Wild 5-2, Austin Parmiter would get the eventual game winner for the Saints.

The Saints came out firing on all cylinders tonight opening the scoring 6:48 in as Josh Harris beat Austin Park just after the Saints penalty had expired. They didn’t stop there as TJ Lloyd would add a shorthanded goal at 12:16 and then Austin Parmiter would cap off the three goal period just a few moments later going glove side on Park at 14:04. That would spell the end of Park’s night who was relieved by Seth Eisele. The Wild would get one back before the period was out as Murphy Stratton picked off a break out pass to score shorthanded at 17:17 of the first.

Logan Ganie (see below) would then add a fourth goal for the Saints with this beauty of a power-play goal at 14:35 of the second period.

The wild tried to make a comeback in the third as they scored 3:54 into the period as Matt Dorsey finished off a nice sequence by the Wild. Nolan Kent and the Saints held firm though adding an empty-netter courtesy of Parmiter to take this one 5-2 and force a Game 5 on Friday night.

Stratton and Parmiter received player of the game awards for their respective sides. Saints goaltender Kent stopped 31 of 33 in the win while Eisele mad 14 saves on 15 shots in relief.

Game 5 goes Friday night a 6pm PST where the Wild will once again look to close out the series and take home the Doyle cup but the Saints, having put in a strong performance tonight, will look to keep things going.
