Evans earns BCHLPOW with big week

JonnyEvansPowell River Kings forward Jonny Evans has been named the BCHL Player of the Week for the week ending January 15, the league announced Monday.

Evans registered three goals and five assists as the Kings won four more games to run their win streak to seven. Evans began his week with a 1st Star nod after a goal and a helper in a 5-3 home win over Alberni Valley. The Kings went on the road for the next three and Evans had a goal and two assists for 2nd Star in an 8-0 win in Nanaimo to start out. He followed that with an assist in a 4-2 win in Victoria and wrapped his week with another 1st Star for a goal and an assist in a 5-3 win over the Grizzlies.

The eight-point outburst puts Evans into the team lead in scoring. The 5-foot-9, 160-pounder now has 24 goals and 34 assists for 58 points in 45 games.
