Flanagan heading to Colorado College

MFlanaganAfter one season in the BCHL, Langley Rivermen defenceman Mckay Flanagan is heading back to the U.S. for his college hockey career.

The Rivermen announced on May 10 that the native of Ridgefield, Conn. has committed to the Colorado College Tigers, an NCAA Div.I program in the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC).

The 20-year old rookie was an important piece to the Langley blueline, finishing third amongst Rivermen defencemen in points scored. Flanagan racked up 11 goals and 24 assists in 58 games played this past season, with four goals and eight assists coming on the power play.

The 6-foot-1 blueliner makes his way to Colorado Springs, Colo. for the 2017-18 season, where he will join a Tigers roster that features five former BCHL recruits. League alumni include Kristian Blumenschein, Cole McCaskill, Nick Halloran, Andrew Farny and Kade Kehoe. Former Alberni Valley Bulldogs forward Matt Hansen leaves Colorado College after playing his senior season in 2016-17.

The Tigers share the NCHC with the University of Denver Pioneers, who won the 2016-17 NCAA Div.I National Championship, as well as Minnesota-Duluth, Western Michigan, North Dakota, St. Cloud State, Omaha and Miami(Ohio).
