Galambos earns BCHLPOW honours

Wenatchee Wild defenceman Zak Galambos has been names the BCHL Player of the Week for the week ending April 22.

Galambos scored three goals over three games, helping Wenatchee win the BCHL Fred Page Cup title. Two of his goals were game-winning goals. In Game 3, the 21-year-old from Walnut Creek, Calif. scored the OT winner for the Wild to give them a 3-0 series lead. Galambos was held off the scoresheet in Game 4 but he stepped up in Game 5 scoring two goals; his first would eventually be the game-winner as the Wild won 3-0 to clinch the BCHL title.

This week’s performance brings Galambos’ playoff point total to 15 (9G, 6A), good enough for third among defencemen. The Wild now prepare for the Doyle Cup against the Spruce Grove Saints.  The series starts Friday, April 27 in Wenatchee.
