RBC Cup: OT goal puts Bandits past Vees

Once again, extra time was needed and once again the Brooks Bandits came from behind and topped the Penticton Vees in round-robin play thanks to Ty Mappin’s winner 3:17 into OT.

OFFCIAL BOXSCORE

Penticton opened the scoring in the first when Ryley Risling was credited for a goal that bounced in off Brooks forward Parker Foo.

That was all the scoring until Foo atoned early in the third period, notching the tying tally on the power play just 33 seconds into the final frame.

As they did last week at the Western Canada Cup, the Bandits and Vees went to overtime but Mappin scored the winner before much time had passed.

Penticton had several opportunities to distance themselves in regulation but failed to convert on any of the eight power-play chances they were given.

Brooks is now 2-0 at the RBC Cup and will have Monday off while Penticton is back in action tomorrow against the host Cobourg Cougars.
