Santerno signs with Bentley

Santerno-mugPatience, and a big boost in productivity, has paid off for Trail Smoke Eaters center Luke Santerno.

The Smithers, B.C. native has accepted an NCAA Div. I offer and will play for Bentley University next season.

With 21 goals and 18 assists in 28 games played so far this season, Santerno is fifth in BCHL scoring and has long since passed his previous season highs of 13 goals and 13 assists. The 6-foot-2, 190-pound playmaker has points in 17 of his last 19 games and has been held off the scoresheet just six times on the campaign.

At Bentley, Santerno will be joining a Falcons program that competes in the NCAA’s Atlantic Hockey Association. Other programs in the conference are Air Force, Army West Point, American International, Canisius, Niagara, Mercyhurst, Sacred Heart, Holy Cross, RIT and Robert Morris.

Bentley has recruited heavily from the BCHL in recent seasons. Their current captain Max French is a former West Kelowna Warriors captain and the Falcons also have Cody DePourcq, Jayson Argue, Jonathan Desbiens, Jake Kauppila and Aidan Pelino on their roster.
