Taylor Ward scored a first-period power-play goal and Mat Robson made all 23 saves as the Penticton Vees shut out the Battlefords North Stars 4-0 Saturday afternoon to get another shot to qualify for the RBC Cup.
Ward’s goal was all the offensive support Robson would need but Massimo Rizzo added another goal on the man advantage early in the second and Jared Nash added another in the middle frame.
Grant Cruikshank notched the final tally of the game, this one shorthanded, to round out the scoring.
The win puts Penticton in the Sunday afternoon game against the loser of WCC title game Saturday night between the Brooks Bandits and the Chilliwack Chiefs.
