Warriors set to honour local firefighters Friday

The Westside Warriors and their fans will pay tribute to the heroes of the recent fire season at the team’s home opener on Friday night at Royal LePage Place.

District of West Kelowna firefighters will be on hand for a pre-game tribute and donations will be made to the fire relief fund. Following the ceremonies, the Warriors will face off against their southern rival, the Penticton Vees.

The Vees are undefeated in three regular season games this year. The Warriors won two of three road games to start the season in northern B.C. No matter at what point in the season, a Warriors-Vees game always proves entertaining.

“They are a big rival, they have been since day one,” Warriors co-captain Trevor Bailey, who is in his fourth season with the Warriors and his last year in junior hockey. “No championships are won in September but these are points that’ll count in the end.”

The Warriors are committed to playing an exciting, offence-oriented game this year under new head coach Darren Yopyk.

The game starts at 7 p.m. Friday and the first 1,000 fans into Royal LePage Place will receive a Warriors schedule fridge magnet, sponsored by Castanet, Boston Pizza, Stutters and Pepsi.

Tickets are now on sale and this is going to be a hot ticket. Call Select Your Tickets at 250-762-5050 or come by the Warriors office during normal business hours or go to westsidewariors.ca.

Season ticket holders can pick up their package of printed tickets for the season at the Wariors office during business hours or on game nights. Season ticket holders can still use their card until they have picked up their tickets.
