With all 16 playoff berths now claimed, the BCHL is reminding fans the Chevrolet BCHL Playoffs format will be the same as last season with a crossover team going to the Interior as the No. 8 seed.
In the Island and Mainland Divisions, the top-four teams have booked spots in the postseason though the exact seeding remains to be determined. When the playoffs begin, it will be the No. 1 seed against the No. 4 seed and No. 2 against No. 3 in Round 1.
In the Interior Division, all seven teams are playoff-bound as well with order of finish still being determined. Joining them in Round 1 however will be a crossover team from the Island Division – either the Alberni Valley Bulldogs or the Cowichan Valley Capitals.
If the playoffs started today, the Capitals would play the Penticton Vees in Round 1 but the remainder of the regular season will determine the other matchups.
The 2019 Chevrolet BCHL Playoffs will start on Friday, March 1. Each round will be a best-of-seven series with the higher-seeded team in each matchup determining the schedule (2-3-2 or 2-2-1-1-1, for example).
In Round 3, the winner of the Island Division will play the winner of the Mainland to determine who goes to the Fred Page Cup BCHL Finals while the Interior teams will play within their division until a winner emerges after Round 3. That team will then go to the Finals.
