One of the Langley Rivermen’s key players will take his talents to the NCAA in 2016-17.

Defenceman Will Campion has committed to the University of Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs of the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC).

The Seaford, N.Y. native is one of two BCHLers who will join the Bulldogs in the fall, along with Salmon Arm Silverbacks forward Josh Laframboise. Minnesota-Duluth didn’t have any BCHL alums on their roster this season.

Campion is one of the many 12 Rivermen players who will join an NCAA team for 2016-17, along with Ryan Barrow, Alec Capstick, Bo Didur, Dominic Franco, Justin Fregona, Cameron Ginnetti, Matt Graham, Max Kaufman, Jason O’Neill, Jordan Schneider and Justin Szeto.

The 6-foot-3, 195-pound blueliner played two seasons with the Rivermen, scoring 11 goals and 60 points in 103 games.

Campion posted seven goals and 30 points during his 2015-16 season with the Rivermen, who were eliminated in the first-round of the playoffs against the Wenatchee Wild. He added a goal and an assist in the series.

Minnesota-Duluth plays in the NCHC, along with Colorado College, Denver, Miami-Ohio, Nebraska Omaha, North Dakota, St. Cloud State and Western Michigan.
