6 BCHL alums named to Mike Richter Award Watch List

The NCAA announced its Mike Richter Award Watch List today and six former BCHL goaltenders are in the running for the trophy.

The Richter award is handed out to the NCAA’s top goaltender each year.

The BCHL alums on the list are:

Michael Corson – Junior – Niagara University (Cowichan Valley Capitals)

Corson transferred from the University of Denver last year and has taken over the Niagara crease in 2020-21. The former Capital owns a .903 save percentage in eight appearances this year.

Zach Driscoll – Senior – Bemidji State University (Penticton Vees)

The 23-year-old from Apple Valley, Minn. picked up where he left off after his breakout season last year. In 2020-21, Driscoll has a .927 save percentage, a 2.35 goals-against average and a record of 6-4-2.

Trevin Kozlowski – Senior – Army West Point (Salmon Arm Silverbacks)

Kozlowski has been a big part of why Army currently sits in third place in the Atlantic Hockey standings. The senior goaltender has a 5-3-1 record with a goals-against average of 2.49.

Jack LaFontaine – Senior – University of Minnesota (Penticton Vees)

LaFontaine, from Mississauga, Ont., has been lights out for the conference-leading Golden Gophers. The 23-year-old has three shutouts, a .948 save percentage and a 1.38 goals-against average, while winning 13 of 16 starts.

Zach Rose – Sophomore – Bowling Green State University (Victoria Grizzlies)

After taking over as Bowling Green’s starter in his sophomore season, Rose owns an impressive 7-1 overall record, while posting a save percentage of .930 and a goals-against average of 1.51 with one shutout.

Adam Scheel – Junior – University of North Dakota (Penticton Vees)

North Dakota sits atop the NCHC standings and that is in large part due to Scheel’s performance this season. The junior goaltender has a record of 12-3-1, a save percentage of .921 and a goals-against average under two. He also has three shutouts which ties him for third in all of college hockey.
