Powell River Kings goaltender Mitch Adamyk has been named the BCHL Player of the Week for the week ending Dec. 9, the league announced Monday.
Adamyk earned back-to-back shutouts in his two starts this week, stopping all 60 shots he faced in a pair of Kings wins.
The 19-year-old from East St. Paul, Man. made 30 saves in a 4-0 shutout victory on the road over the Cowichan Valley Capitals on Wednesday night, then followed it up with another 30-save performance on Saturday in a 5-0 blanking of the Chilliwack Chiefs.
This was the second time in the last three weeks that Adamyk has recorded back-to-back shutouts and he now leads the league in that category with four. He owns the sixth-best goals-against average in the BCHL at 2.72 and the seventh-highest save percentage at .909. After this weekend, he sees his record improve to 14-5-4.
