Brooks Bandits forward Harry Ahlberg and Nanaimo Clippers forwards Samuel Boisvert and Charles Béland have been named the NAPA Auto Parts 3 Stars of the Week, for the week ending Feb. 15.
1st Star – Harry Ahlberg (F) – Brooks Bandits
Ahlberg’s six points in two games last week led all BCHL players, while his four goals were tied for the league lead.
The Swedish forward scored two goals last Wednesday in the Bandits 4-3 comeback overtime win over the Sherwood Park Crusaders. With his team down 3-0 in the second period, Ahlberg scored a late power-play goal to get Brooks on the board, then eventually potted the overtime winner. He was named first star of the game. On Saturday, the 20-year-old notched four points in another dramatic comeback victory. With the Bandits trailing 4-1 at the second intermission, Ahlberg scored twice and added two assists in the third period as Brooks scored six straight to win 7-4. His goal at the 11:36 mark stood as the game winner and he was named first star for the second game in a row.
Ahlberg is tied for second in Bandits scoring with 43 points in 41 contests on 20 goals and 23 assists.
2nd Star – Samuel Boisvert (F) – Nanaimo Clippers
Boisvert tied for the league lead with four goals in two games last week. He also picked up an assist to finish with five points.
After chipping in with an assist in Friday night’s 6-2 win over the Surrey Eagles, the Mirabel, Que. product put together a career night on Saturday against the Powell River Kings. Boisvert scored four goals against the Kings, including the eventual game-winner, in an 8-4 win. All of his goals came in the first 31:46 of the game and two were with the man advantage.
The 2005-born forward is averaging a point per game this season with 34 in 34 contests.
3rd Star – Charles Béland (F) – Nanaimo Clippers
Béland picked up five points in two Clippers wins last week, notching two goals and a trio of helpers.
The native of Trois-Rivières, Que. contributed a goal and an assist on Friday in a 6-2 home win over Surrey. His goal came on a man advantage in the third period and was his sixth power-play goal of the season. The next night, Béland totaled three points on a goal and two assists in Nanaimo’s 8-4 win against Powell River.
The 19-year-old now has 13 goals, 12 assists and 25 points in 41 games.
