Aibel makes commitment to Brown

It can be tough to stand out when you play on a team with the top-scoring line in the league for most of the season but Nolan Aibel was able to do enough in his role behind the Sheldon Rempal-Matt Hoover-Devin Brosseau line to earn a scholarship to Ivy League Brown University.

Aibel has been a valuable secondary producer on the Clippers, particularly down the stretch where he put up 5-8-13 in the final 15 games to help Nanaimo earn the top seed in their division. The native of Brookville, N.Y., will take his game to college starting this fall.

He is one of nine Nanaimo players with an NCAA Div. I commitment and one of three BCHLers committed to Brown along with Chilliwack’s Zach Giuttari and Wenatchee’s August Von Ungern.

Brown plays in the NCAA’s ECAC Hockey conference along with Quinnipiac, Harvard, Cornell, Union, St. Lawrence, Clarkson, Yale, Princeton, Colgate, Dartmouth and RPI.

Former BCHLers on the Bears roster this season are Josh McArdle, Ben Tegtmeyer, Zach Pryzbek, Kyle Kramer, Brandon Pfeil and Tyler Steel.
