BCHL Finals: Game 2

The West Kelowna Warriors took a 2-0 series lead in the BCHL Finals after a 6-3 win in Chilliwack over the Chiefs Saturday night.

With the game tied 3-3 after two periods, West Kelowna was able to score three times in the third to pull away. It was Jonathan Desbiens’ power-play goal – the Warriors’ third of the night on the man advantage – that was the winner. Brett MennearĀ and Kyle Marino added empty-net goals after that.

Chilliwack had opened the scoring in the first on a power-play goal by Jordan Kawaguchi but West Kelowna went ahead in the second on goals by Nick Rutigliano and Desbiens’ first of the night. Aaron O’Neill drew the Chiefs even again in the middle frame, followed by Jake LeBrun and Ryan Forbes exchanging tallies to make the 3-3 score heading to the third.

The final frame was all Warriors, starting with Desbiens’ winner.

Matthew Greenfield made 23 saves for the win.

Game 3 goes Monday at 7 p.m. in West Kelowna.
