BCHL grads Tuton, Lunden named captains at UAA

British Columbia Hockey League graduates Jared Tuton and Josh Lunden have been chosen to wear letters at the University of Alaska Anchorage during the 2009/10 season, Seawolves head coach Dave Shyiak has announced.

Tuton, a former Merritt Centennials forward, will wear the 'C' in his senior season after serving as an assistant in his junior year. A stay-at-home defenceman, the Whitehorse product played in 32 games last season and has suited up in 103 total games during his college career at UAA.

Joining Tuton in the Seawolves' leadership core will be former Chilliwack Chiefs star Josh Lunden, who will be returning as an assistant captain. Lunden posted 20 points for the third consecutive season in 2008/09, tying his NCAA-high with 14 goals while adding six assists.

“These players are very deserving in this leadership position. All four individuals represent our program well in all facets,” said Shyiak. “We are looking forward to next season.”

Tuton and Lunden's appointments were voted on by their teammates with additional input from the coaching staff.
