BCHL Playoff recap – Saturday, March 25

A three-goal third period, including two goals from Nick Guiney, allowed the Victoria Grizzlies to come back and defeat the host Powell River Kings 4-2. The victory ties the series 3-3 setting up Game 7 Monday night in Victoria.

Powell River got out to a 2-0 lead after one with goals from Cam Donaldson and Josh Coblenz. But Grizzlies goalie Matthew Galajda closed the door after that, winding up with 38 saves for the game.

In the second, the Grizzlies got on the board on a Tyler Welsh goal but they still trailed by one going to the third. In the final frame, Jamie Rome tied the game on the power play and Guiney followed 29 seconds later with what would be the winner. Guiney added his second of the night for insurance in the final minute.

Victoria killed off all five Powell River power plays, including a couple of opportunities early in the first. Keyvan Mokhtari assisted on the first, third and fourth Grizz goals.

The Q Centre in Victoria will be the venue for Monday night’s Game 7 showdown in Victoria. The winner of that game will advance to face the Chilliwack Chiefs.
