BCHL Playoffs: Monday, April 4

Yanni Kaldis’ wrister found its way home with 45 seconds to go and was the game-winner in a 3-2 Nanaimo Clippers road win over the Chilliwack Chiefs.

Nanaimo is now one win away from clinching a spot in the BCHL Finals.

After a scoreless first, Chris Dodero got the Clips on the board near the midway mark of the second. It remained 1-0 until early in the third when Darien Craighead tied the game for Chilliwack. Nanaimo’s Matt Hoover and Chilliwack’s Vimal Sukumaran swapped tallies after that to make it 2-2 and it remained deadlocked until Kaldis gathered a centering feed and fired it home.

Evan Johnson was named the game’s 1st Star after making 39 saves.

Nanaimo now has two wins in Round 3 and can get their third win on Friday, April 8 when they host West Kelowna.

Chilliwack and West Kelowna have one win apiece and they will meet Wednesday in West Kelowna in a 7 p.m. start.
