The British Columbia Hockey League today announced the release of its 2009 Parent Handbook for the College-Bound Student Athlete.
The handbook, which will serve as a resource for current and prospective BCHL players, provides in-depth information on the National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA), Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS), and the Alberta Collegiate Athletics Conference (ACAC).
The handbook is available for viewing and download under the Education section on the BCHL website. Copies will also be made available through each of the league's 17 member teams.
Information contained in the handbook includes background on university and college admissions including the SATs, guidelines on player recruitment, scholarships and financial aid, and a section that outlines many of the key questions families should ask when approached by university or college hockey programs.
