Over four BCHL seasons, Riley Brandt displayed a rugged style of play, earned the captaincy of the Vernon Vipers in 2017-18 and now gets to put all that experience to work with an opportunity to play USports hockey at Royal Military College (RMC) in Kingston, Ont. this season.
Brandt had nine goals and eight assists last season when he was limited to just 34 games for the Vipers. For his BCHL career, the Trail native suited up for 176 games in which he recorded 42 goals and 40 assists to go along with 274 penalty minutes.
At RMC, Brandt will join a Paladins program that competes in USports’ Ontario Universty Athletics East division along with Concordia, Queen’s, Nipissing, Université de Québec Trois Rivières, Laurentian, Ontario Institute of Technology, McGill, Carleton and Ottawa.
Brandt is the sole BCHL player from last season to commit to RMC. He’ll join former BCHLers Mathew Michie and Rhett Willcox on the Paladins this season.
