Brooks Bandits forward Logan Sawyer has been named the Alberta Division Player of the Week.
The Orangeville, Ont. product had a goal and two assists in two games last weekend to put the Bandits one win away from clinching the Alberta Cup.
Sawyer notched a goal and a helper on Friday night in his team’s 4-3 loss to the Sherwood Park Crusaders in Game 3. He opened the scoring with a power-play goal 3:50 into the first period, then registered an assist on a goal later in the period.
A night later, Sawyer collected another point with the man advantage with an assist on Brooks’ power-play marker 53 seconds into the middle frame in an eventual 4-3 overtime win in Game 4.
The 18-year-old leads the Alberta playoffs with 13 points in 11 games and is tied for the postseason lead with seven goals.
