Langley Rivermen forward Eric Butte has committed to play for the U.S. Military Academy (Army) Black Knights for the 2018-19 season.
Butte, who is from Belmont, Mass., has spent the last two seasons in Langley, playing in 109 regular-season games and scoring 21 goals and 33 assists for 54 points over his BCHL career. The 20-year-old forward also played in 12 playoff games for the Rivermen over his two seasons.
The U.S. Military Academy (also known as Army West Point) is located in West Point N.Y. and they play in the Atlantic Hockey Association (AHA) conference in the NCAA’s Division I. Their men’s hockey program goes all the way back to the 1903-04 season and they won their first and only conference title as regular-season champion in the 2007-08 season. The Black Knights recently lost to Air Force 2-1 in the AHA best-of-three quarterfinals.
Army’s current roster includes several BCHL alums, including Dominic Franco, Blake Box, Taylor Maruya, Tipper Higgins and Trevin Kozlowski. Butte is the only current BCHLer to commit to the Black Knights this year.
