Chilliwack Chiefs goalie Daniel Chenard has been named the BCHL Player of the Week for the week ending May 20, the league announced Wednesday.
Chenard posted three wins while making 78 saves on 82 shots, backstopping the Chiefs to the RBC Cup national Junior A title on home ice at Prospera Centre. The native of Waterloo, Ont. had a 26-save shutout in a 2-0 win over the Wellington Dukes May 15, which was the only shutout at the RBC Cup. Chenard, 18, wound up with the second-best save percentage (.937) and goals-against average (1.77) of any goaltender that played more than one game in the tournament.
