Cherkowski set for Merrimack

Vernon Vipers forward Nicholas Cherkowski has committed to the Merrimack Warriors for the 2020-21 season, becoming the second player in the last week to commit to the school and the third player in the league to secure their future there.

After playing one game with his hometown team in Vernon last year, the 18-year-old has been a full-time player with the Vipers this year, putting up a goal and three assists in 16 games this season.

Cherkowski joins Coquitlam Express forward Regan Kimens as the only two current players committed to the Warriors as Kimens signed on with the Warriors last week.

They will be joining fellow BCHL alums August von Ungern (Wenatchee Wild) and Christian Simeone (Alberni Valley Bulldogs) who are both currently playing their freshman seasons.

Merrimack is located in North Andover, Mass. and plays out of the Hockey East conference. This year, they’ve gotten off to a 2-5-0 start overall and are 1-2-0 in conference.
