Chiefs’ Adam inks with Western

After returning to the Lower Mainland to finish his Junior hockey career, Chilliwack Chiefs defenceman Austin Adam is looking farther afield once again for his future in Canadian University hockey.

Adam has committed to play for the University of Western Ontario in London for the coming season.

A native of Surrey, B.C., Adam spent his first four seasons of Junior in the Western Hockey League with the Moose Jaw Warriors and Everett Silvertips. He came to Chilliwack for this past season and posted five goals and 18 assists in 54 games.

The 6-foot-5, 195-pound rearguard will join a Western program that competes in Canadian Interuniversity Sport’s (CIS) OUA West division. The Mustangs compete there against programs such as York, Waterloo, Guelph, Windsor, Ryerson and Brock.

Adam is the first BCHL player to commit to Western for the coming season. Former Penticton Vees forward Connor Chartier is the only BCHL alum on the Mustangs roster.
