Coastal Finals Update: Oakes keys another OT win

The Powell River Kings are taking care of business and working overtime, and in doing so they've put the Victoria Grizzlies down two games heading back to the Sunshine Coast in their Coastal Conference Finals series.

On Saturday, Kings forward Darcy Oakes wrapped a hat trick performance with the overtime winner and put the cherry on top of a perfect weekend in his club took two rare wins at Bear Mountain Arena.

After a scoreless first period, the teams traded a foursome of second period goals that was capped by Oakes first of the night. In the third, Cody Bremner put Victoria out to a one goal lead before the league's regular season scoring leader notched his second with under two minutes to play in regulation.

Oakes then coverted a Erik Vos feed for the winner 13:34 into overtime.

Sean Robertson and Derek Lee also tallied for the Grizzlies, who Andrew Pettitt scored the game's opening goal for Powell River. Both netminders were busy, with Kings tender Carsen Chubak turning aside 37 shots for the win while Anthony Grieco stopped 30 in the loss.

Powell River now returns home with a 2-0 series lead and the opportunity to wrap up the series should they be able to win consecutive games on their ice.

Tuesday's game faces off at 7:00 PM on Tuesday from the Powell River Recreation Complex.
