Coastal Playoff Update: Eagles take Kings at home

Both Coastal Conference series tighten as the race to the Fred Page Cup finals continues.

Powell River (2) at Surrey (1) — 7PM, South Surrey Arena

After losing two straight on the road in Powell River the Surrey Eagles picked up a 1-0 overtime win at home to cut down the Kings series lead to 2-1.

Assisted by Mike Henderson, Spencer Bennett was the only scorer of the night, giving the Eagles the win, just under six minutes into overtime..

However first star of the game went to Eagles goaltender Tommy Tartaglione who shutout the Kings after turning aside all 42 shots they threw at him.

Tonight's game will determine if the Eagles can capitalize on their home ice advantage to even up the series before going back on the road.

Victoria (2) at Cowichan Valley (1) — 7PM, Cowichan Valley Community Centre

In other Coastal Conference play, The Victoria Grizzlies have taken the lead in their close series with the Cowichan Valley Capitals.

After splitting wins in Victoria the series made its way to Cowichan Valley last night where Grizzlies Jonathan Milhouse, Zach Currie and Myles McRae each put one in past Capitals netminder Chris Rawlings in their 3-1 win.

Rawlings stopped 42 of the 45 pucks that came his way, while the Grizzlies' Anthony Grieco put a stop to 32 of the 33 shots he saw.

With the momentum of winning two straight in the series, Victoria will be going into tonight's game with hopes to solidify their lead over the Capitals before heading back home.
