Cowichan Valley’s Cam Keith named 2025-26 Coach of the Year

Cowichan Valley Capitals head coach and general manager Cam Keith has been named the winner of the Joe Tennant Memorial Trophy as the BCHL’s Coach of the Year.

Keith led the Capitals to first place in the Coastal West Division with a 38-13-3 record.

The Capitals averaged 4.48 goals per game this season, which was second best in the league, while their penalty kill tied for second in the BCHL with a rate of 82.6 per cent.

Keith has coached in the league since the 2016-17 season. This is the second time he has won this award, previously being honoured in 2024 when he guided the Surrey Eagles to the top of the standings and eventually a league championship.

This is the third time a Capitals coach has won this award and the first since Scott Robinson in 2007.

Other finalists for the award were West Kelowna Warriors head coach and general manager Simon Ferguson and Blackfalds Bulldogs head coach Ryan Tobler.

Individual awards are determined by a vote between the 20 BCHL head coaches at the conclusion of the regular season.
