Nanaimo Clippers defenceman Jordan Dawson will be staying close to home next year as the Delta, B.C. native has announced his commitment to Simon Fraser University (SFU) for the 2019-20 season.
Dawson, 21, played two years in the BCHL, starting with the Langley Rivermen in 2017-18 and joining the Clippers last season. The stay-at-home blueliner contributed 15 points in 60 career games.
Prior to coming to the BCHL, Dawson played for the Edmonton Oil Kings of the Western Hockey League (WHL).
The SFU campus is located in Burnaby, B.C. and the school plays in the BC Intercollegiate Hockey League (BCIHL), competing against Selkirk College, Trinity Western University, Vancouver Island University and the University of Victoria.
Dawson joins Coquitlam Express grad Ty Westgard as recent commits to the program. He’s also the seventh BCHL player to commit to a Canadian university program this year.
Last year’s SFU team included Express alum Mitch Newsome and former Surrey Eagle Domenic Masellis.
