Dominant weekend nets POW honours for Zengerle

Salmon Arm Silverbacks forward Mark Zengerle is quickly dispelling any myths about needing time and patience to adjust to a new league.

Zengerle was named the British Columbia Hockey League's Player of the Week on Monday after scoring or assisting on all seven of his team's goals in back-to-back weekend wins over Trail and Penticton.

On Friday, Zengerle played set-up man to linemate and four-goal scorer Conor Morrison, assisting on all five goals in Salmon Arm's 5-3 victory over the Trail Smoke Eaters. A night later the 19-year old scored both Silverbacks goals in a 2-1 triumph over Penticton, who hadn't been beaten in regulation time since the second round of last season's playoffs.

After his tremendous weekend, Zengerle sits second in BC Hockey League scoring with 23 points in 11 games. The Silverbacks are back in action Friday, playing the first game of a home-and-home series with the Vees.
