Doyle Cup Game 3 – Wild @ Saints

Sam Hesler would get the eventual game winner as the Wenatchee Wild held on to earn a 4-3 victory and take a commanding 3-0 series lead over the Spruce Grove Saints.

The Wild opened the scoring just 3:54 in as Sam Morton found a lose puck in the slot and fired it past Nolan Kent on the glove side to give his side the lead. Austin Parmiter answered back with a power-play marker just before the halfway mark of the first period. The Wild would then score three unanswered on goals from Nathan Iannone, Cooper Zech and the GWG from Helser (see below)

The Saints however would make things interesting as they put two quick ones past Austin Park on goals from Parker Saretsky followed 23 seconds later by Nick Leyer but couldn’t get the tying goal.

Both goalies faced 37 shots each, with Spruce Grove setting the pace early out shooting the Wild 16-6 in the first period.

Murphy Stratton was named the star of the game for the Wild while Logan Ganie took the honours for the home team. Game 4 of the best-of-seven series goes tomorrow night at 6pm PST in Spruce Grove where the Wild will look to close out the series and be the first American team to hoist the Doyle Cup.
