The BCHL and officiating directors Derek Adams and Brad Lazarowich congratulate Jeff Eden, Cole Cooke and Cade Cooke on earning the officials’ awards for the 2015-16 season.
Eden has been named recipient of the Kelly Sutherland Award for excellence in refereeing. Originally from Victoria, Eden moved to the Lower Mainland this year and continued his development while being a go-to guy for assignments.
“He had a fantastic season and topped it off with going to the BCHL Fred Page Cup finals again,” said Adams. “His professionalism on and off the ice and commitment to the BCHL last season was amazing.”
Brothers Cole and Cade Cooke are co-winners of the Brad Lazarowich Award for their work as linesmen. Both debuted in the BCHL this year as products of the Mission Minor Hockey Association and right away showed they were up the level of the league.
“They both progressed very rapidly with their work ethic and professionalism,” said Adams. “Both brothers are extremely coachable and eager to learn what they need to do to officiate at this level.”
