Fillion earns POW

Wenatchee Wild forward Christophe Fillion has been named the BCHL Player of the Week for the week ending Sept. 9, the league announced Monday.

Fillion started off his BCHL career in style as he chipped in two goals in the Wild’s 5-3 come-from-behind road win over the Vernon Vipers on opening night. The next night, the Sherbrooke, Que. native scored another two goals, including the game winner, and added an assist as he was named first star in his team’s 6-3 away victory over the Surrey Eagles.

After this weekend’s games, Fillion has four goals and one assists for five points in two games. The 18-year-old trails only his teammate Cristophe Tellier for the early-season lead in BCHL points and has the outright lead in goals.

The defending Fred Page Cup champion Wild picked up right where they left off last season as they are off to a 2-0 start.
