Brooks Bandits forward Liam Fitzpatrick, Powell River Kings forward Marek Beaudoin and Victoria Grizzlies forward Owen Warnick have been named the NAPA Auto Parts 3 Stars of the Week.
1st Star – Liam Fitzpatrick (F) – Brooks Bandits
Fitzpatrick led all players with six goals in just two games last week, helping the Bandits reach the holiday break with a pair of wins over the weekend.
On Friday, the 20-year-old from Moose Jaw, Sask. became the first player this year to score five goals in a single game during the Bandits 8-4 home win over the Spruce Grove Saints. After scoring once in the opening frame, Fitzpatrick helped lead an onslaught of seven straight Brooks goals, scoring three more in the second period and another one in third. He was named first star of the game. On Sunday, the Merrimack College commit scored his third power play goal of the weekend in a 7-5 victory over the Sherwood Park Crusaders.
Fitzpatrick’s 17 goals on the season are tied for fifth overall in the BCHL, while his 24 points rank fourth on his team.
2nd Star – Marek Beaudoin (F) – Powell River Kings
Beaudoin finished last week with seven points in two games, leading all players in scoring.
On Friday night, the Verchères, Que. product totaled four points in his team’s dramatic 5-4 overtime win over the Victoria Grizzlies. With his team down 3-1 in the third period, he cut the lead to one with a power-play goal, then assisted on two more Kings goals, including the tying marker with 1:17 to play in regulation. He then picked up a helper on teammate Casey Bridgewater’s overtime winner. The following night, Beaudoin notched his second hat trick of the season in a 7-5 road loss to the Alberni Valley Bulldogs.
The 19-year-old is tied for fifth in league scoring with 35 points in 27 contests.
3rd Star – Owen Warnick (F) – Victoria Grizzlies
Warnick averaged three points per game last week, picking up two goals and four assists over two contests.
The Northern Michigan University commit had a goal and two assists on Friday in a 5-4 overtime road loss to the Powell River Kings. On Saturday, he matched his score line from the night before, contributing another goal and two helpers in a 5-4 home defeat at the hands of the Nanaimo Clippers. Two of his assists over the weekend came with the man advantage.
On the season, Warnick has nine goals and 16 assists in 29 games this season. His 25 points put him fourth in team scoring.
