Cranbrook Bucks forwards Jacob Fletcher, Patrick Murphy and Rasmus Svartström have been named the NAPA Auto Parts 3 Stars of the Week.
1st Star – Jacob Fletcher (F) – Cranbrook Bucks
Fletcher totaled four goals, four assists and eight points in three games last week, helping the Bucks to a trio of victories.
Last Wednesday, the St. Lawrence University commit scored the eventual game-winning goal in a 3-2 road win over the Trail Smoke Eaters. Two nights later at home against the Brooks Bandits, Fletcher was in on all five of his team’s goals as the Bucks came back to win 5-4 in overtime. His five-point outing was a career best and he was named first star of the game. The 20-year-old capped off his week with a goal and an assist in a 5-3 victory over the Okotoks Oilers on Saturday night.
Fletcher is Cranbrook’s leading scorer with 54 points in 45 games, good enough for ninth overall in the BCHL, while his 42 assists rank third in the league.
2nd Star – Patrick Murphy (F) – Cranbrook Bucks
Murphy tied his teammate Fletcher for the league lead in points last week with eight, after piling up three goals and five assists in three games.
The North Kingstown, R.I. native put up a goal and two assists last Wednesday, factoring in on all three of his team’s goals in a 3-2 triumph over the Trail Smoke Eaters. On Friday, Murphy registered a goal and a helper in Cranbrook’s 5-4 overtime win over the Brooks Bandits. The following night, he produced his third straight multi-point game with a goal and two assists in a 5-3 victory over the Okotoks Oilers and was named first star of the game.
In 38 games this season, Murphy has 21 goals and 21 assists for 42 points. He ranks second on the team in goals and third in assists.
3rd Star – Rasmus Svartström (F) – Cranbrook Bucks
Svartström picked up seven points in three games last week on two goals and five assists, with both of his markers being game-winners.
After collecting an assist last Wednesday in the Bucks win against the Trail Smoke Eaters, the Finnish-born forward had a four-point night in Friday’s win over the Brooks Bandits. After recording three assists in regulation, Svartström scored the overtime winner to complete the Cranbrook comeback. After tallying an assist in the second period the following night against the Okotoks Oilers, Svartström scored the eventual game-winner early in the third period, his league leading 37th of the season.
In addition to having the most goals in the BCHL, the 19-year-old has 53 points, which is tied for 10th most in the league.
