It's yet another ECAC Hockey goaltender of the week nod for Powell River Kings and Penticton Vees alumnus Michael Garteig.
Garteig racked up several ECAC Hockey goalie kudos in a red-hot start to last season and has been a fixture again this season in the conference's weekly awards.
Most recently, he Prince George, BC product went 2-0 with a 0.99 goals-against average and a .962 save percentage for Quinnipiac, helping the Bobcats sweep a two-game weekend against Cornell and Colgate.
Garteig fashioned a 1-0 shutout Feb. 6 at Cornell. The blanking was Garteig's NCAA-leading fifth goose egg of the campaign and also set a new Quinnipiac record as it is the 11th of his college career. He followed that with a 4-2 victory over Colgate, making 31 saves.
Garteig won an RBC Cup national title with the 2012 Penticton Vees. In his three BCHL seasons, the 23-year-old netminder went 92-23-3 with 13 shutouts.
