Green commits to Cougars

The Coquitlam Express are proud to announce 20-year-old defenceman Taylor Green has committed to play for the Cougars of Mount Royal University starting in the fall.

Accepting more responsibility on the Express blueline this season, the 6-foot-7, 220-pound Green posted six goals and 31 assists while playing all 58 games. He also registered 80 penalty minutes.

“We are extremely proud of Taylor and seeing him getting this opportunity is awesome,” said Express head coach and general manager Barry Wolff. “Taylor has faced a lot of adversity in his Junior career and just kept pushing forward every time there was a road block.

“His continued perseverance and ability to stay focused on his goals is something we can all learn from and something Taylor should be very proud of.”

Green, a Port Coquitlam, B.C. product, will join fellow BCHL grads Matt Brown, Sebastien Pare, Billy Marshall and Brett Zarazun on the Cougars roster.

” I’m very excited to be playing hockey for the Mount Royal Cougars next season,” said Green. “Thank you to the Coquitlam Express family for helping me get to this next level; I can’t wait to start my next chapter of hockey and life at the University.”

The Cougars play in the Canada West conference in the CIS and are located in Calgary.
