The Victoria Grizzlies ended Salmon Arm's six-game win streak in emphatic fashion on Saturday evening, scoring a pair of shorthanded goals and another two with the man advantage in a 7-3 win on home ice over the SilverBacks.
Alex Allan, Jordan Heywood and Wesley Myron each scored once and added a pair of assists for the Grizzlies, while Brandon Fagerheim tallied a pair of goals including the game winner at the 12:39 mark of the second period.
Dylan Nowakowski and Dustin Mowrey provided the rest of the goal scoring for Victoria, and netminder Richie Virtanen was named the game's first star following a superb 29-save performance.
Brett Knowles, Devin Gannon and Matt Cassidy replied for the SilverBacks, who saw Kurt Williams take the loss after allowing five goals on 17 shots in 40 minutes of action.
Salmon Arm concludes their four-game Vancouver Island stetch with a Saturday evening visit to Cowichan Valley, while the Grizzlies are next in action when they host another Interior opponent — the Penticton Vees — on Wednesday.
