Harrison inks with Huskies

With a BCHL and national title to his credit while playing with his hometown West Kelowna Warriors, defenceman Jake Harrison has ensured more lines on his hockey resume as he’s now committed to an NCAA future.

Harrison has signed with Michigan Tech University and he’ll join the Huskies program for next season. The 5-foot-9, 170-pound defenceman has 6-16-22 in 35 games this seasons and looks likely to surpass his previous highs for goals and points. The left-shot blueliner is a veteran of 143 BCHL games and has amassed 16-56-72 in that time.

The West Kelowna product won the BCHL Fred Page Cup and the RBC Cup national title as a Warriors rookie in 2016.

At Michigan Tech, Harrison will join a program that has recruited heavily from the BCHL in recent seasons. They have 12 former BCHLers on the roster this season in Dane Birks, Jake Lucchini, Gavin Gould, Mason Blacklock, captain Brent Baltus, Devin Kero, Mitch Meek, Evan Anderson, Tyler Rockwell, Cooper Watson, Alex Gillies and Jake Jackson.

The Huskies compete in the NCAA’s Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) along with Northern Michigan, Lake Superior State, Ferris State, Alabama-Huntsville, Bemidji State, Alaska, Alaska-Anchorage and Minnesota State.
